Rizing Games Expo 2019 - Event

Tuesday 11th & Wednesday 12th June 2019

We will be hosting our annual student expo at Cambridge Regional College on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th June 2019 between 16:00-19:30. All are welcome to come along and see the fruits of labour from our students hard work this year. There will be a variety of games and personal projects to interact with and you will have the opportunity to discuss the work with the students themselves to discover their inspirations, successes and trials throughout the project. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to get effective experience demonstrating their own work and receive some crucial feedback for the beginnings of their careers!

Game Anglia "Careers in Games" - Talk

Thursday 25th April 2019

We are fortunate enough to have 3 representatives working with Game Anglia deliver a series of talks entitled "Careers and Routes in Games: Get Hired, Start a Company, Go Leftfield" presented by Tom Kail, Adam Boyne, and Chris Filip! Adam is the co-founder of games and virtual reality developer BetaJester. Tom was Inkle's (80 Days, Heaven's Vault) first employee and is now an independent developer. Chris is the Co-Founder of Game Anglia and former Game Designer at Ubisoft.


Locomotion Focus Group Testing - Event

Wednesday 1st May 2019

Local independent developers Polyfox will be showcasing their soon to be released game, Locomotion, to our students to receive some final QA and focus group testing prior to their release Friday 10th May! This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for our students to not only support a local company but to gain some useful experience within Quality Assurance.

EGX Rezzed 2019 - Event

April 4th-6th 2019

Year 2 Students will be showcasing their hard work at one of Englands most popular gaming events, EGX Rezzed. Tobacco Docks will be host to hundreds of games from a variety of developers, and right in the middle of it will sit Rizing Games students of 2019! Read the Rizing Games press release here! DSH Overwatch Tournament - Event

January-March 2019

A great effort from our Rizing Games champions saw us go toe-to-toe with Conventry College and Loughborough College in the Regional Qualifiers. An unfortunate results for our team but they played well and everybody enjoyed the event!
Students gained valuable experience working alongside one another to organise and run an e-sports tournament in partnership with Digital Schoolhouse and UKIE. For more info visit: Digital Schoolhouse


V&A - Videogames Design/Play/Disrupt - Event

Tuesday 12th February 2019

We had the immense opportunity to visit the Videogames Design/Play/Disrupt exhibition at the V&A museum in London! There were some incredible displays demonstrating the degree of planning, research, creativity, design, testing and passion that goes into crafting these interactive experiences.
There were some very positive and engaging exhibits showing the change that games can bring to society and how we can develop better experiences that share and communicate the world around us.


UAL Annual Conference - Event

Friday 8th February 2019

The Games Teaching Team were at The Mermaid Theatre in London in order to network and learn from other centres delivering a University of Arts London course. We had the pleasure to showcase new student games in between sessions and gain some great feedback from those attending. Cambridge Regional College and Rizing Games also featured in their new 10 Year Anniversary publication celebrating centres and students who have engaged wholly with 'the UAL way'!


Tom Rey, PlayFusion - Talk

Tuesday 18th December 2018

Ex-Rizing Games Student, Tom Rey, visited our course to talk all about his work at PlayFusion, a Cambridge based company paving the way in AR Trading Card Games. Students had the chance to talk with Tom about his journey into the industry, his work at PlayFusion and even got a chance to play some of their games!


Cambridge Computing History Museum - Trip

Wednesday 5th December 2018

We had the pleasure to visit Cambridge's very own computing history museum just off Coldham's Lane.
Students explored their expansive library of games consoles, computers and technology throughout the ages!

UKIE Game Jam - Event

Monday 22nd - Tuesday 23rd October 2018

A few select students bravely entered a national competition in which they had just 30 hours to design, create and complete functioning game based on the theme "Change".
This year saw some incredibly exciting games from all participants and all Rizing Games students that entered did the team and themselves proud.
